Floating Floor:
In order to bring the internal floor up to the correct level, we use a floating floor which sits on top of the concrete slab. The damp proof membrane would already have been placed on the concrete slab and then the floating floor insulation is positioned on this. The next layer of the floor is the tongue and groove chipboard which is is fitted to create the final finished floor level.
Stairs:
Once the plasterboard and floating floor are completed, the stairs can now be fitted into place. This couldn’t be done before as they need something to fix to.
There are a variety of stairs that you can choose and it all depends on your budget. If you are building a standard house to sell, then your best bet is to choose a standard set of MDF stairs which can be made off site and then just put into place on site. This will work out a lot cheaper as the time on site will be minimal.
If you wanted to go a bit pricier, then you could always have an oak and glass handrail for the desired look and then the MDF stairs as the treads will be covered in carpet. This would be a mid-range cost as the company would probably need to erect this on-site to ensure the separate parts fitted together.
