ARCHITRAVE , SKIRTING BOARDS, INTERNAL DOORS & DOOR STOPS

Architrave:

When the floating floor has been put down, you can now get the carpenters in who  will cut the architrave to size. This is what goes round the edge of the internal doors. There are many different styles of architrave which of course vary in price as well as design. If you are opting for a standard white grain internal door, I would suggest to buy pre-primed architrave as it means you don’t need to spend time paint priming the wood before.

Skirting Boards:

As with architrave, there are many designs of skirting boards. Again, I would choose a pre-primed skirting board as it will save you time and money further down the line. Ideally, the architrave and skirting boards should match in style, however if you were going for a certain ‘look’ the world could be your oyster.

Internal Doors:

The carpenters can also hang internal doors. Again, these can come as pre-primed which will save time and money having to prime each door – it’s surprising how many doors you can have in your home!

Door Stops:

Door stops are the bits of wood that get fixed to the middle of the door frame which allow the door to close (rather than being pushed like a swing door). These don’t generally come primed so you would need to use a paint primer on these as opposed to the architrave and skirting boards.
